Ekono

Terms of Use

Last updated: September 17, 2026

Translation. This English version is provided to make these terms easier to read. The French version is the official one: if the two versions differ, the French version prevails.

This document explains the rules for using Ekono. We tried to write it simply: you should be able to understand what you are agreeing to without being a lawyer. By creating an account, you accept these terms.

1. Who publishes Ekono

Ekono is published by Cybalgo, a sole proprietorship based in Longueuil (Québec, Canada), registered with the Québec enterprise registrar (registraire des entreprises du Québec) under business number (NEQ) 2280664634.

For any question about this document or the service, write to us at info@cybalgo.com. We reply within a few business days.

2. What Ekono does

Ekono is a budget tracking tool. You record your expenses and income, by message on Telegram or on the website, and Ekono sorts them, adds them up and gives them back to you as totals, budgets and reports. A “business” space also lets you track the sales, purchases, inventory and customer credit of a small business.

Ekono does not move any money. The service is not a bank, a payment institution or a money transfer service. It records what you tell it, nothing more.

3. Your account

Creating an account requires a valid email address. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for keeping your access confidential. An account is personal: do not share it.

You must be at least 18 years old, or have the consent of a parent or guardian, to use Ekono.

You can link your account to Telegram to dictate your expenses to the bot. You can remove this link at any time from your settings.

4. What is free, what is paid

The Ekono website is free. Creating an account, recording your expenses and income, keeping budgets, viewing your reports, tracking a business and exporting your data cost nothing.

The Telegram bot is an optional paid service: it lets you dictate your expenses by text message, voice note or photo of a receipt. It costs 5 USD per month, plus applicable taxes, after a 14-day free trial. The price shown when you subscribe is the price that applies.

If you save a card to start the trial, the subscription starts automatically at the end of the 14 days. To avoid this, cancel before that date: nothing will be charged. We notify you by email a few days before.

Payments are processed by Stripe, a specialized payment provider. You enter your card details on Stripe’s side and they never pass through Ekono: we neither see nor store your card number. Stripe applies its own terms and its own privacy policy.

The bot subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period until you end it. You can cancel at any time, from the Telegram Bot page or by writing to us. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for: the bot stays available until then, and you are not charged afterward. Your account and the website remain accessible.

Refunds: a month that has started is not refunded, since you keep using it until the end. If the service is unavailable for several days because of us, write to us: we will credit the lost period.

If a payment fails, we let you know and the bot is paused until the payment is settled. An unpaid balance never affects your data or your access to the website: you can keep recording your expenses there, and your full history stays intact.

We may change our prices. Any change is announced to you at least 30 days in advance and only applies from the next billing date; if the new price does not suit you, you cancel before then.

5. Artificial intelligence reads your messages

This is the heart of the service, and you should know it clearly: when you write “manje 250 goud” to the bot, the content of that message is sent to an artificial intelligence model (Claude, provided by Anthropic), which extracts the amount, the category and the merchant. The same applies to the receipt photos you send.

Voice notes are first transcribed into text by a third-party service (OpenAI), then processed like a written message.

When you ask for a summary or ask the advisor a question, a numerical summary of your account (totals by month and by category, budgets, balances, businesses, sòls and group budgets) is sent to OpenAI for as long as it takes to produce the answer. This summary contains neither your email address nor your passwords, and OpenAI does not keep it.

These providers process your messages to deliver this service to us and do not use them to train their models. Do not send the bot information you do not want processed this way: passwords, card numbers, health information.

The AI sometimes makes mistakes. An expense may be put in the wrong category, or an amount misread on a photo. Each entry is shown with a button to correct or cancel it: check what has been recorded.

6. Fair use of the bot

Every message read by the AI has a real cost for us. Your account therefore has a message credit that refills every day; whatever you do not use one day remains available on the following days. This credit is well above normal use: it exists to prevent message loops and abuse, not to ration you.

The following are prohibited: automating the sending of messages, reselling access, and any attempt to get around the limits of the service or to access other people’s data. We may suspend an account that does so.

7. Your data belongs to you

Your transactions, budgets and reports are yours. You can export them at any time from the website, in a format that spreadsheet software can read.

You can delete your account whenever you want. Deletion erases your data from our databases; it is permanent and we cannot restore it.

We do not look at the content of your transactions, unless you ask us to in order to solve a problem. We do not sell or transfer your data to third parties for commercial purposes. The only third parties with access to it are those that make the service work: the hosting provider, the database, and the AI providers mentioned in section 5.

8. What Ekono is not

Ekono does not give any investment advice. Totals, budgets and reports are a presentation of what you entered. The advisor, included with the Telegram bot, offers general budgeting tips (spending, savings, due dates, contributions) generated automatically by artificial intelligence from your numbers: they may be incomplete or inaccurate, they do not recommend any investment or financial product, and they do not replace the advice of a professional (accountant, financial advisor, tax specialist). You alone are the judge of your decisions.

Exchange rates are for information only. Ekono converts amounts into your reference currency using rates from a public source, updated daily. They are not tradable market rates and cannot serve as a reference for a real transaction.

Ekono is not an official accounting or tax document. The reports in the business space help you run a business; they do not replace bookkeeping kept according to the applicable rules.

Ekono never holds the money of a sòl (savings circle) or a group budget. These features keep a record among the members: who contributed, who paid, who received, who is late. The money passes directly between the members and the organizer or the person in charge, under their sole responsibility. Ekono does not guarantee the payment of contributions or the handing over of payouts, and does not get involved in disputes between members.

9. Service availability

We do our best to keep Ekono available at all times, without guaranteeing it. The service may be interrupted for maintenance, or because of a provider we depend on (hosting, Telegram, AI providers, network).

We may change the service and add or remove features. If a significant change puts you at a disadvantage, we will let you know.

10. Ownership

The website, the bot, the texts, the visuals and the code of Ekono belong to Cybalgo. Your account gives you the right to use the service, not to copy it, resell it or create a derivative work from it.

Your data, however, remains yours. We do not resell it.

11. Liability

Ekono is a tracking tool. The decisions you make based on what it shows are your own. We cannot be held liable for lost profits, lost opportunities or indirect damages resulting from the use of the service.

In the event of damage attributable to us, our liability is limited to the amounts you have paid us over the last twelve months.

Nothing in this document excludes any liability that cannot legally be excluded, in particular in the case of gross negligence or intentional misconduct.

12. Suspension and closure

We may suspend or close an account that does not comply with these terms, or that seeks to harm the service or its users. A simple unpaid balance only pauses the bot. Except in cases of obvious abuse, we notify you beforehand and give you time to retrieve your data.

13. Changes to these terms

These terms may change. Any significant change is announced to you by email or in the app, at least 30 days before it takes effect. Continuing to use Ekono after that date means you accept it; otherwise, you can cancel.

14. Governing law

Since Ekono is published from Québec, these terms are governed by the laws applicable in the province of Québec and in Canada. In the event of a dispute, we first seek an amicable solution: write to us at info@cybalgo.com. Failing an agreement, the dispute falls under the jurisdiction of the courts of the judicial district of Longueuil (district judiciaire de Longueuil).

If you live elsewhere, the protections that the law of your country grants you as a consumer still apply to you: nothing here is intended to take them away.
